While this conclusion is from a Democrat led committee, a lot of the evidence they gathered is directly from the Trump White House or other people formerly loyal to him. Having read a summary of some of the worst of it, I’d be very surprised if the DoJ doesn’t think there’s a prima facie case to answer. That means he will go on trial.
The Democrats have got everything they could reasonably have hoped for at this stage. Trump’s delaying tactics were intended to get the process dragging on into next year when a GOP-majority House could forcibly kill it. But Trump couldn’t delay it long enough and now the work is done.
While Trump is of course deserving of a fair trial, I have to say, based on the damning evidence of his direct attempts to subvert the 2020 election process, it’s a bit rich to sling accusations of corruption at those trying to bring him to account.
