Yes, I have a wireless dock for my phone, unless I want to run it off mains for a quick charge during the day overnight it just gets charged wireless.
Syncing would be harder then, imazing is definitely more flaky on wireless sync than with a cable.

They do, yes. And I can't really understand why because it doesn't seem to be a concerted effort to do it anyway, or else the iphone 13s would have come with them. I understand Lightning is actually better performing than USB (or at least was before USB-C) which is why they didn't go for the mini USBs at the time so I don't see the sense in that decision, but there probably is one.
My macbook has 2 USB-C ports but I'd expect that of a computer not a mobile device where communication is much more likely to be both-way.
