It’s a nice bit of PR but in an economic system that has inflation built into it, the unadjusted figure can only have real meaning when compared with other films released around the same time. For comparison with historic releases only an inflation-adjusted figure actually means anything, and even that figure is of limited use as the way in which films are distributed and charged for is never going to stay quite the same over time.
Number of cinema seats filled over a defined period of time might be a more interesting way to measure how successful a film has been, as far as the audience is concerned (obviously economic success is the primary concern of the studio).
Still, Endgame, the Avengers series and the wider MCU franchise deserves a big
for a genuinely superb, sustained, galactic-scale piece of storytelling.
