At least with the olympics we can see a situation where the sport actually truly means something to the people taking part.
I think that it's more a case that the Premier League is now so full of money and 'home' players are bought for more money that they are worth, so they actually think they are on the same level as the better foreign players that are bought for the same amounts, when they are clearly not.
