Can’t understand why the Scottish player attempted a shot from so far out that led to the goal in the first place, they were just getting back into the game.

The picture from ITV for the Belgium v Russia game is much better. Is there any known reason for this?
For some strange reason I was convinced that BBC1 on channel 101 was like ITV 1 on channel 103 in HD. Problem solved.
