It should be a 'sport' in as much as the athletic ability of those taking part, the thing is where else would it go? Pro wrestling is such a niche industry it has trouble being pigeon-holed.
As for what it's become, WWE is limited to its PG rating. It's also trying to be more 'soap opera' with these promos although I appreciate the lack of backstage spots. In an ideal worl they'd have a third brand for more action-based shows, the problem is who'd watch it? ECW ran out of steam, NXT isn't going anywhere and the other shows are basically highlights of RAW and SM with a few jobber matches thrown in.
I've got no interest in TNA whatsoever, I don't like their product, booking, marketing, lots of things but if they had a major backer then I think now would be a great time to return to the Monday Night Wars.
