I have been with ntl/vm for 6 years now and i just have one pc and one cable modem....what i would like to know is: if i buy a laptop and want to share the internet connection do I have to contact vm and ask them to replace my modem with a cable router...so as i can pick the signal up from my laptop.....and if this is the case would it cost to have my modem replaced and indeed is it legal to have two computers sharing the same connection?...

as you may guess i am totally ignorant to networking and I want to make sure i do everything right and legal.
