Hannington Digital TV

hi

Hannington near Newbury one of the last to change fully to digital 2012
but has been on with some channels so i was told. Got hold of a reciever
from Freecycle plugged in to Roof very old aerial and tuned in at least
25 channels were on last week including BBC\ITV Sky news many others
as well good picture mainly but BBC Has break up but i suppose they
were only low power . Much has been said about needing new aerials
and things and i suppose many will but i suggest you try it on what
you already have before spending big money.

friday 22 sat 23rd no Digital Signels being recieved does anyone know
when more tests will take place

Many thanks will have good read of this later. Quick check this morning (sunday) no Digital Signals being recieved from Hanington . cannot check London direction as tree in Front of house towers well above it.
Reason for looking at Freeview is cost of setting up another cable box upstairs rooms
same For Sky freesat and now people are buying new TVs with built in Freeview boxes
are being offered on your Local Freecycle worth a sub to that as many people are
going to find The Bedroom TVs wont work after Feb. EBAY seems place for CO-AX
And Boosters so people should not be put off by doing it them selves .

To UPDATE THIS THREAD.

Hannington has nearly every Day this week had full digital Service running for up
to and hour . Most Channels Showed Signel meter about half way across meter
on Screen but BBC Were very poor constant breaking up and level only about
a third. Sky news and shopping Channels level was right across dial.#

This would be consistant with the increase in power stated earlier. Do you get a decent analogue picture from Hannington using the old aerial? Tune into each analogue channel in turn BBC1, 2, ITV, CH4 (Not CH5), and select teletext page 284. There is a simple test running on that page that will show if the aerial is likely to be up to the job after switchover.

Pre amp cures no problem .

Re: Hannington Digital TV

More likely this comes from people who have the wrong analogue aerial installed, which has been a problem with Hannington since the year dot!. Despite being advised that a Group E aerial is required, most installers were putting up Group B's, particularly prior to the launch of CH4. The good news is that all the freeview channels will fall into the Group B range after switchover.

Thats Strange when it fell down and was repaired we said to bloke CH4 was bad
he said its right Airel and this was bad area for CH4 Because of trees .

Re: Hannington Digital TV

Without seeing the installation and location I can only give the guy the benefit of the doubt, and there is more loss of signal at higher frequencies, but it is marginal. Usually if people have tree problems it affects all channels irrespective of the UHF channel used. As I say, the problem will cease to exist next year anyway.
