Re: English Cricket
I've really tried with 'The Hundred', but it's appalling. Everything cricket shouldn't be, with teams sponsored by fast food snacks, the English monsoon season started and the footy season about to start. Doomed to fail.

Re: English Cricket
I have watched a few minutes here and there as I did last year, totally unimpressed. They even had a 40 ball whack a mole match a few days ago. I hate it with a vengeance.
The 50 over One Day Cup has not been much better, partly due to the weather. Typical of those tight fisted money grabbing Yorkshire oafs. The Yorkshire v Lancashire 50 over game at Scarborough was called off. Even though it wasn’t raining for most of the day. Due to inadequate covers the overnight rain had ruined the wicket. The Scarborough cricket club website stated that a full refund would be given if no play was possible. The Yorkshire County Cricket Club have said that under their conditions no refunds would be given, only a voucher for another game at Scarborough. Not much use for the large number of Lancashire supporters who had paid to attend. Since then the Scarborough club website has been altered to read the same as the Yorkshire CCC terms and conditions. What a complete shambles of a county, it’s no wonder they are in such a mess on and off the field. |
Re: English Cricket
Why is Yorkshirman Bairstow, playing for the Welsh Fire against Northetn Superchargers at Headingley? Does he have an Aunt from Merthyr Tydfil?
Hate franchise 'cricket' (and the Hundred) it's utterly meaningless, the teams have no identity, and it all looks awfully manufactured. The crowd look thoroughly bored and cold... |
Re: English Cricket
When what is basically the strongest county Surrey finished next to bottom of their group in the 50 over one day cup and another strong country Lancashire qualified for the play offs by the skin of their teeth it just shows what a mess cricket is in.
I dislike the 16.4 Whack-a-mole (Hundred) competition intensely. Surrey lost 12 first choice, first team players and Lancashire 8 to the 16.4 format franchises. Which idiot decided to have the long established 50 over one day competition at the exact same time as the 16.4 slogfest? There appear to be bigger, more varied crowds attending the 16.4 but how many of them have been given reduced price or even free tickets. The ECB seems determined to continue supporting this folly even though it is costing them dearly to support it and as no other cricket playing country is playing 16.4 one can only hope it dies a swift and painful death. |
Re: English Cricket
Yes, no other country has taken this crap format up.
I think the ECB are still stung from creating 20/20 but forgetting to copyright it! They were hoping make up for it by selling this panto format to others. |
Re: English Cricket
Might as well give the World Cup to India now. Their spin bowlers are unplayable on their own pitches.

Eng players are overpaid complacent and lazy. I blame T20, ECB, IPL and Sky's money. By the time we pick Stokes we'll be out of the World Cup. Wonder how Afghanistans wages compare to England? |

Even then ours often can't be bothered to turn out if they get a better T20 tournament offer elsewhere. Things have gone very wrong with English cricket and its down to money. National pride won over money today. That's a good result in a way. |

Re: English Cricket
South Africa going Dutch.:D Possibly even worse than England’s woeful effort so far.
Amazing, Holland 50 for 4 then 80 for 5 at one stage. |
