Horse Racing

Been following this 16 year old named Billy Loughnane, noticed him last week and backed him on Saturday where he rode Embour to win at 33-1 and then decided to go through the card with him at Wolverhampton on Monday where he managed 3 winners, a place and 2 loses, quite an achievement and he's now gone to the US to continue his riding education albeit in non competitive surrounds, one to watch and keep an eye on

The trouble is every trainer will use his claim while he has got it so he will have to turn professional then but he certainly is a great young talent.

His dad is a trainer so he should look after him, he's going to be in America doing non competitive racing stuff for a while anyway

l am hoping Cheltenham is on on Saturday as there was a rumour that is is touch and go on whether it would go ahead.

That would be disappointing as l fancy several on that card.

Me to, already picked them and got early prices, I'll probably do some more early Saturday morning if I do I'll post them here. Big meeting, nine races

Just got the latest update from Cheltenham and there is a precautionary inspection tomorrow at midday.

They are still quietly confident about Saturdays meeting but in the event of it being off Sunday would be a likely second option if needed according to the update.

Irish Gold Cup day, small field with a stand out favourite Stattler could do something ew though

I'm reminded of Baaed last race, he was a similar price 2/9 iirc and I had him in a six fold, the first four won including a 33/1, the cash out offered was over £1000 and there is baaed the shoo-in, and the fecker didn't even place and protektat did in the next race, still that's racing

l was put off by Stattlers race as it only had 7 runners as l like 8 in a race for Each Way.

Had Ermesnide at linfield yesterday 14/1 no real biggies today though, a 4/1 and a few places today

Got Arab Cinder in the last at Kempton

Me to re the e/w, lets be honest at 1/5 of the price anything under 4-1 is a losing bet, should've done a forcast with hindsight

The Mares hurdle looks like its going to be pretty hot this year as l have had some Ante Post bets with NRNB.

Stattler - Gold Cup 15/1
Mahlers Mission - National Hunt Chase 33/1
Its For Me - Champion Bumper 10/1

Yeah thats a tricky one, the Mares Novice, as l have not really got a strong fancy there currently.

Well done last years on your Gold Cup 1,2, 3 as l think the favourite is beatable this year as that stiff hill will be his undoing imho.

Well a guy I worked with got the first four in the national 10 years ago but didn't have it as a forcast so I've done a reverse one ever since, normally get 4 out of 5 which is just annoying, 123&5, has happened a couple of times which is the worst and one year was 234&5, the absolute worst one was when Ruby Walsh came 3rd as I'd backed him but not in the forcast so had 124&5, if they let you do four out of five I'd have retied long ago! I'll be doing the same in the Gold Cup now, it's not as easy a race for me to predict though so it might not become a regular thing

l have done well in Nationals in the past few years as l picked Noble Yeats last year at 40s and l picked the Irish National winner at 66s.

Yes you are quite right TD as when l was younger the amount of what l call mug punters who did not seem to have a lot of skill in reading the form of races were substantial and that includes some punters with plenty of money.

l suspect that sentiment still applies even though many punters bet online or on their mobiles nowadays.

Yeah NRNB is a useful tool nowadays for the punter.

First day of Cheltenham

Difficult to see past facile vega in the first but if his last outing was anything to go by there may be a chance I like high definition and Tahmuras each way

Jonbon is my pick of a two horse race in the second

Fast or slow and monbeg genius are my favourites in the third although I like corach rambler too

Fourth has a stand out favourite that I can't go against and may well be one of the greats

Maries Rock in the fifth

Byker in the sixth although afridi and morpheus are good each way bets imo

Galliard du Mesnil looks a safe bet in the last but tenzing and mister coffy look good each way for me

Good pick with maskada, third time lucky could've made a game of it though if not hampered by the faller imo

Yes if he was not hampered by the faller TTL would have been much closer.

1.30 Mighty Potter & Appreciate It are the stand outs, someone like stage star or james de burials could run them close though

2.10 I like salvador ziggy and maxxum but wouldn't rule out level never ending or bear grylls from a good run

2.50 shishkin obvs but am expecting blue lord and envoi allen to produce in his wake

3.30 home by the lee paisley park and teahpou

4.10 had datsalrightgino as a 100/1 in a race he was pulled from, he's a lot shorter in this one, also like frero banbou

4.50 luccia, foxy girl

5.30 stumptown

2.50 French Dynamite e/w

3.30 Flooring Porter and Gold Creek both e/w

Re: Horse Racing

The final day of the Chrltenham Festivel so here it goes TD

1.30 Blood Destiny to win

2.10 First Street, Pembroke and Pinkerton all e/w

2.50 Corbetts Cross to win and Rock My Way e/w

3.30 A Plus Tard to win and Hewick e/w

4.10 Vaucelet to win and Le Malin e/w

4.50 Jeremy's Flame to win and Pink Crystal e/w

5.30 Might l, Buddy One and Firm Footings all e/w

TheDaddy 17-03-2023 11:43

Re: Horse Racing

1.30 Blood Destiny and lossiemouth are getting all the attention but I think Ascending and Zanta could have something to say about that, Gala Marceau beat Lossiemouth convincingly recently too

2.10 Pembroke, Pied Piper

2.50 Three Card Brag has the beating of the favourite here for me

3.30 A Plus for me although Minella Indo and Noble Yates are way to long odds to ignore for me Bravemansgame and ahoy senor should run the favourite close

4.10 Billway and Famous Claremont should make the favourite earn victory but The Storyteller might have a tale to tell

4.50 Impervious is the stand out

5.30 I like Imagine but MollyOlies Wishes seems a bit of a big price

Sorry to hear that TD as l was up over the 4 days but it would have been better if Buddy One did not hang across the course in the last race.

I was £233 up Wednesday night and finished with £160 left which is probably my worst Cheltenham for quite some time

l used quite a few of my free £5 bets l had saved for a while with several coming in at rewarding odds as well as doing my usual small stakes bets.

Definitely a couple hundred up l reckon as l will work out my full statistics in the coming days and where l went right and where l went wrong as the next big jumps festival is only weeks away.

l have already had a couple of Ante Post bets for the Grand National in Longhouse Poet and Gaillard Du Mesnil.

Given there are 40 horses in the National a little saver on him would be wise.

Longhouse Poet 20/1 e/w

Gallard Du Mesnil 33/1 e/w

Le Milos 16/1 e/w

My standards bets depending on the prices is a £1 e/w bet or a £1 win bet.

Avoid paid tipsters unless you've researched their stats fully or free ones with huge numbers of followers, they're most likely on a percentage from bookies and tip accordingly, they're called affiliates

Remember 4/1 each way and under paying 5th of the odds is a cash losing bet

Never make more than one withdrawl from your betting account a month

Get a stake plan and stick to it, Den's is £1 e/w, it should really be £2 win if you copy his as a plan

Don't bet to big on single races, don't bet over £30 on a race to often or your account will be restricted, likewise never refer to trader if your betting account offers you the option

When researching look for the things that genuinely give you an advantage, like some trainers specifically get their horses ready for certain meetings, like the a guy that gets horses ready for boxing day at Wincanton, some horses like racing to the left, some excel at specific distances but not others, there's so much you can do to turn the odds in your favour a little, I've been in the 3% for years now but it's never by more than £700 and frequently far less.

I like

Galliard Du Mensil
Delta Work
Noble Yates
Capodanno
Any Second Now

So does Templegate in The Sun and the reason I like him in this race is because he's an absolute demon, like all other newspaper tipsters appalling in every other race of the year though but this race he is mustard in, you will actually find that tipsters do have months they're good in, when I started out I used a guy called Alan and he couldn't pick his nose most of the time but he is worth subscribing to in August if he's still about as he certainly used to kill it then, another was really good in November, which is a tricky month generally

I like

Corach Rambler
Noble Yates
Galvin

denphone 15-04-2023 07:18

Re: Horse Racing

l generally ignore quite a few tipsters especially the newspaper ones but the ones who seem to do far better then others are ones like Hugh Taylor, Tony Calvin, Johnny Ward and Steve Ryder, Matt Brocklebank seems to do well lately as well.

My horses for today are

2.25 Pounding Poet, Mexico and West Balboa all e/w
3.00 Irish Point to win and Springwell Bay e/w
3.35 Flooring Porter to win
4.15 Shakem Up Harry and Eldorado Allen both e/w
5.15 Longhouse Poet, Gaillard Du Mesnil, Le Milos, Vanillier and Any Second Now all e/w
6.20 Samui and Florida Dreams both e/w

It requires a bit of skill to read the form book whether its the Racing Post or other similar horse racing form websites.
