Spoilers? You make it sound like a pre-scripted drama rather than a sport, surely not ! ;)

I can see AEW going Bankruptcy by 2035 due to all wrestlers under AEW contract and under use.

It turn into the new WCW.

Look like lots of politics are going on backstage with three Executive Vice President having Championships.

With the Khan family money behind it plus their tv deal they won’t go bankrupt but I do think they’ll need to change their business model. Far too many poorly-trained “wrestlers” getting injured from Indy-level botches. The whole company is an absolute embarrassment but it’s loyal fans are happily blind to all that as acknowledging their failings would be seen as somehow validating WWE and nooooo, we can’t have that!!

Punk coming back…ok that caught my attention but he won’t be the Punk of old and speaking of old, can he still go? I know he cut down to compete in the UFC but last night he looked like he certainly has not put any weight back on. Still given the size of most of the AEW roster he’s like Andre the Giant.

I’m certain after all the hype dies down they’ll mess up Punk and he’ll be just another one of the boys.

Awful promotion putting on awful matches, paying awful “wrestlers” to take part.

And yes I’m a Jim Cornette guy.

Except WCW wasn't bankrupt

Jim Cornette just strikes me as a miserable resentful git angry that wrestling promotions don't owe him a living, sure if impact or aew offered him a contract he'd bite their hand off and change his tune. The problem is we never knew how good we had it as kids, we had two top promotions to watch and now we have.... none. I think punk will be fine, 42, he is still in his wrestling prime and it's signings like him and Daniel Bryan that'll push the company to the next level, I hope interesting times are ahead as wrestling used to be brilliant and now it's just dull

AEW did approach Jim before they started but when Tony Khan told him who would be part of it JC turned him down flat. And he was right. He’s also right about everything he’s said about AEW too. He did want them to succeed and be legit competition to Vince but they’re just an outlaw mud show promotion with wealthy backers.

Hmm this is the man who worked for Vince Russo three times and he turned them down because of who he'd be working with! I don't believe him. It's a shame because he has so much knowledge and could have been an asset but I don't believe he turned them down. I like AEW, they've made some odd decisions but there not as bad as the old shock jock would have us believe

Re: AEW (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Cornette has never worked for Russo. He’d rip his own nails out before he’d work for Russo.

Cornette has talked many times about the meeting he had with Tony Khan and given how vocal he’s been about AEW if it was a lie Khan would have called him out on it. People at all levels listen to Jim’s podcasts so there’s be denials left, right and centre if it was a lie.

Corny doesn’t want a job with any of the big companies. His last job (with NWA) was only as a favour.

AEW is a dangerous and amateur promotion. Look on twitter for AEW Botches and you’ll see what Khan would rather have hidden.

He did because Russo was head writer, for the WWE in the 1990s and TNA in 2009, the WWE one was particularly horrific because of the brawl for all event that literally crippled wrestlers both physically and careerwise but all anyone talks about is what Russo did to WCW. You might have a point re the podcast and job offer though.

Three times he worked with him and couldn't stop him doing stupid things, that shows where the authority lay imo

Yes, the authority was Vince McMahon, who didn’t want to stop Russo.

Cornette had no authority over Russo and vice versa.

Corny couldn’t take it anymore so moved down to OVW taking care of new talent. That’s where he slapped Santino Marella which led to his sacking.

I thought everyone knew this

Couldn't take it anymore but then worked with him again in TNA, he's a resilient chap
