Hah, further than me then! ;) :D

I'm currently stuck and annoyed at the end of Chapter 2 - can't kill the boss (big samurai bloke on a horse, with loads of sorcerers backing him up).


I don't mind games being challenging, or having the occasional frustrating bit. I got annoyed at times with GTA IV, Halo 3, & various other games. But they always felt fair, & they always held my interest enough to make me persevere & try try again... and I finished them.

NG1 though... seems to be taking the micky a bit, I think. It's simply not fun getting your butt handed to you repeatedly, & being made to feel useless. And the story doesn't hold my interest enough to make me keep going.

I rarely give up on games. I always try & finish them. I even finished Assassin's Creed, despite it quickly becoming horrendously tedious, because the story held my interest & I wanted to see how it panned out, plus I felt it'd be a waste of £40 to just give up.

If a game is single player only, & has no real replay value, then I trade it in after I finish it.

The last game I gave up on was Devil May Cry 4, not due to being too hard (it wasn't), but due to finding it boring to play, with not enough story to keep my interest. Ditto for Lost Planet. Both got traded in.

Ninja Gaiden though... too hard, not fun, doesn't hold my interest...So I think I'm gonna shelve it indefinitely :( (would trade it in, but it's a US version).

Just completed COD4 - WOW - very good indeed.

Where is that?

100 Greatest Games! Half Life at 18 - gimme a break. COD4 is good, not better than Half-Life 1 or 2 taking Gfx into consideration. Then I see Dungeon Keeper 2, System Shock 2 and Vice City aren't even in the list.

Have to agree with you about NGII I've got rid of it now and got Devil May Cry (honest) :D

I've also picked up a copy of Civilization Revolution -which is rather good and a nice change of pace/game compared to what I usually pick up. ;)

When playing COD4 on line your character ranks up from level 1 to level 55, upon reaching level 55 you can prestige, which basically means start ranking up again but keeping your overall score. Each time you do this you get different marker by your name, up till a maximum of ten prestige's which gives you the coveted gold cross.

Heh, well DMC is certainly easier than NG (I think everything is!). I got a bit bored of it, though.

I can confirm, in my opinion anyway, that Civilization Revolution is excellent after completeing a game/tutorial. It's looking like a very addictive game. Well worth a purchase IMO - suppose the PC brigade will be moaning about the shift from PC to console but I think it has been done extremely well. I'd give it a good 8/10 and still to play multiplayer which could change the score. Great game. :tu:

Its a very polished game and it deserves success, it has depth and apparently the multiplayer aspect is very good but i've still to try this yet. A review I've read has said that its the best strategy game on console to date - which I think says it all.

Playing the game for the first time last night and going nuclear with my civilization was a hoot! - sending an atomic missile halfway around the game world was brilliant stuff! :D and i've still to reach space exploration!

Just brought Civilisation Revolution for the 360, great game and very addictive. In the single player campaign you start with a choice from 16 countries and great leaders from the past, on my first game I choose England under Elizabeth 1st, you then proceed to evolve your civilisation along whatever lines you like: eg military, scientific, culture or finance. Great game 9/10.

I really want to get this one to. Its only £27.99 on shopto so will pick it up soon. Just ordered Alone in the dark so soon as I finish that I will be getting It :) Really, Really enjoyed the Demo.

It's quite a blast on the odd occasions when you do take down a premier player..

And you get better with practice so it happens more often.
I'm totally the other way round. Having discovered online play I really have no time at all for single player games.

Playing COD4 online, its a bit annoying when you are only a level 12, been put against a level 40+ player.

Well they have just released the creature creator for the mammal stage of evolution in the highly anticipated Spore, so technically I have been playing that. Though its not really a game. I will deffinatley be playing the full game when it comes out, the level of customisation on the creatures in the mammal stage alone are astonishing. I can only imagine what the full game will be like.

I haven't played the Battlefield demo yet, but all the reports seem to point to a great title, if its a toss up between this and COD4 I'd have to say go for COD4, it is without doubt the best and most realistic FPS I've ever played. Also its longevity is massive due to its superb on-line playability, definitely a 10/10 game.:)

Both games look amazing, I've completed CoD4 twice on different difficulties. I'm in prestige on online mode. So I know how good that is, yet I'm after new games what everyone will have. I might just purchase CoD4 today and see how I am for money next week for BC.

Well playing some Alone in the Dark but I h8 the control system and I really really h8 the camera angles. Other than that its a decent game. Good graphics but after playing MGS they dont look as good as I remember lol.

COD4 mainly, but started going back on Grand Prix Legends, now that is proper motor racing :) I just so wish they would bring a new version out :) The mods and extra tracks peeps make have given it more life than I expected.

Sadly, Papyrus met their maker quite some time ago after the evil EA procured and destroyed the NASCAR racing series. SIMBIN have pretty much picked up where they left off as far as serious racing is concerned, the GTR and Race series are fantastic games.

yeah it's a great shame, as GPL was leaps and bounds ahead of anything at the time, real car driving :) circa 1967, cars where cars and drivers ermm didn't live long :(
I'll have a look at those other ones you mentioned Uncle peter, racing sims have been a bit few and far between the last few years.

This week I have been mostly playing the BMW M1 ProCar 1979-1980 mod on rFactor.

Smeagoly1, you should check it out. It's the closest thing to GPL if you use the Caterham mod.

The guy who runs this site runs a couple of servers for online champs, much fun to be had.

For the last week I've been having great fun playing Command and Conquer Kane's Wrath, both single player and on-line, a truly great game for the aspiring generals among us.:)
Of course I'm really waiting for Brother's in arms, Hell's Highway which now has a release date of 12th September, a bit of a bummer really because its just been put back a month from early August.

Silent hill 3 is great, worth a play. It even has links to the main character in the first one (Harry Mason I think his name was), I really didn't like 4 much though.

Race07 - Awesomeness is an understatement for this racing game and the icing on the cake is the GT-R Evolution expansion being released next week.

Flight Simulator X - Very impressed up to now. Some of the more casual reviewers have given this a luke warm response while overlooking one of the major improvements: the major improvements in the terrain/elevation mapping density (not for the whole globe but FS Global X scenery upgrade is due out soon though to fill in the gaps).

If Dosbox works for Vista x64 then you could get the dos version of the game and run it that way, ive heard that way is actually a better way to run the game since you can limit the speed to make it more playable and it is less likely to randomly crash during some missions like the windows based collectors edition does.
