Macron is winner in French Election 2022

BREAKING: Official Exit Polls sees Macron as projected winner of the French Presidential Elections:-

Macron: 58.2%

Le Pen: 41.8%

Should exit poll reflect true results, that sees a 7% swing to Le Pen from 2017 results.

Polls moved away from her between the 1st and 2nd rounds again. Also about a 1-2% gain for Macron from the final polls at the end of the last week which had it as 57%. Be interesting to see what she does now and if the National Rally continues down this 'moderation' approach or reverts back to where they were before and where Zemmour was in this election.

Surprisingly the first French President to win a 2nd term in 20 years and Chirac!

While I’d have quite liked to see what a genuinely eurosceptic French government would have looked like, now is not the time for those sorts of social experiments. We don’t need a Putin fangirl in the Élysée Palace.

Dan Hodges: “In 2002 Le Pen got 18%. Five years ago his daughter got 34%. Today she’s predicted to get 42%. This is not something to celebrate.”

Nope, but people were expecting to be closer this time so there will be some relief and celebration.

I do wonder what happens to Le Pen and the National Rally now. Will they continue with the moderation approach or will she be deposed and they go down the Zemmour route?

I wonder if they are celebrating Macron being the first French president in 20 years to win a second term?

Macron is 44. At the end of his term he'll be 49. 49 years old and he'll be a 'former' two-term French President and 12 (15 if he gets his way) years until retirement.

Still 30 years off being a US President even at the end of his term!

I'm with Chris on this one, we don't want Putin's fan girl in power. And I'm no Macron fan.
