0845 and 0870 now chargeable?

I used to be on Ultimate Oomph with Talk More Anytime where all 0845 and 0870 calls were free (first 60 minutes and subject to fair useage).

I’ve just recontracted to Ultimate Volt and the phone plan is now called Anytime Chatter. When I browsed the call rates:

I was suprised to see 0845 and 0870 numbers appear to be chargeable across the board for recontracting/new customers. Or am I just reading it wrong?

I didn't think 0845 or 0870 had ever been included in call minutes in a standard phone contract. I avoid them like the plague.

A quick Google for 0845 numbers on virginmedia suggest they were not free at least back in 2017.

They were, and still are, for customers on Talk More Anytime - see page 26 of the document I linked to. However, it now seems that for anyone moving to the Chatter tarrifs, they’ve made the calls chargeable.

I'd be surprised at many reputable organisations using local and national rate non geographic numbers nowadays.

https://www.saynoto0870.com/ is your friend.....find an alt number there.
