Linksys router woes

Hi there,

I have a linksys BEFSR41 wired Router with version 2.00.02 firmware which links my PC and XBox 360 to a Scientific Atlanta 2100 modem, all via cables.

I'm with virgin media and pay for there 10meg (20meg) service.

My PC runs windows XP (SP3)

The XBox runs whatever my Son wants to play.

My problem is this, no matter what I run -PC alone, Xbox alone or both together I'm kicked from Xbox live every 5 to 10 minutes or my PC flashes up that a network cable is disconnected. If I disconnect from the router and just run the PC or Xbox direct from the modem I have no such problems with disconnection.

I returned the Router to the company I purchased it from and they replaced it for me. Sadly the problem still persists with this new one.

Can anyone help me get rid of this problem ?

Cheers,

Jim

Are you sure that is the latest firmware version for your specific version of router?

Hi there,

I was told by the company I got it from that it had the latest Firmware. However, on going to the Linksys website I found that it was not the latest version !!

I have updated it and things appear to be working just fine now.

So much for believing what the "trained" staff tell you !!
