DSi and import games

Hi
Ive googled this but cant seem to find an answer, My wifes just bought a dsi but am I right in saying that it will only play region 2 games and not imports, a lot of the games on ebay which I believe are imports say not dsi compatable.

no all handheld games are not region protected. I have a lot of American DS games and they play fine on my UK DS console.
