Accessing the 6ghz range on a hub5
 

How do I access the 6ghz wifi on the hub 5. How can I tell if my Amazon firestick 4K pro is accessing the 6ghz ax wifi. Do wifi6 device automatically use wifi6?

Yes they automatically use wifi6, the device needs to support it, you can tell if a device is using it like a phone or tablet because the WiFi icon has a 6 on it, atleast it does on my 2 Samsung devices, I can't tell on the PS5 though.

Don't confuse this with WiFi frequency 2.4 and Wifi frequency 5Ghz, I'm not sure how to explain it though as I'm still connected to the 5Ghz band.

Can anyone explain more please as I can't?

I don't think the Hub 5 supports the 6GHz Wi-Fi band (the Wi-Fi 6E standard).

It supports Wi-Fi 6, which operates over the 5GHz band.

Gotcha. My wifi analyser has a little 6 beside so all seems good. I thought the hubs was triband. 2.4, 5 and 6. So the hub5 uses wifi 6 using the 5ghz yes?

Yes, it not a new frequency for wireless but how it is implemented.

Yes, you can tell if you go into the hubs wireless signal settings, you only have 2.4 and 5 but you will see there is an ax mode.

Well .....

Wi-Fi 6, runs on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.

However, Wi-Fi 6E runs on the new 6 GHz band.
[ I should say "as well", since it can also run on 2.4 & 5Ghz ]

Even more confusing, both 6 & 6E are known as 802.11ax

Oh, and look out for 802.11be, aka Wi-Fi 7, coming soon ... ish. :)

The HUB 5 as you know is WIFI 6 and WIFI 6 does not use/support 6GHZ, that is WIFI 6E which has been out about 2 years so with Virgin Media you may be on it by the time WIFI 7 has been out about 2 years.
