~Adsl router with Cable Connection~ :O

Hey to everyone reading this post....
I was just wondering if I will be ready for my new VM 4mb connection on friday. We have 8 computers in the house, and we are using this router http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/imag...F5D7632Bun.jpg
Obviously we dont use all 8 at the same time, max we use is 3. It is a ADSL modem but it has a "ethernet" port at the back.
1) Can i use this modem as it is with my new cable connection
2) If i cannot do what i want to do in point 1, can i plug in VM's modem into this "ethernet" port and will it work.

Otherwise I will buy the new Belkin MIMO https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2007/03/35.jpg when the cable one comes out... or I will buy a temporary one...

Thnx for your help... I look forward to reading your replies   :) :)

Edit: Whats the best BELKIN (Price doesnt matter... most expensive is usually the best) cable wireless router..

An ADSL will not work properly with a cable connection you need a cable router of which there are plenty of good ones :) :welcome: to the forum btw if money is no object buy the most expensive with good reviews I do not believe in cutting back when it comes to finances ;)

Edit I have a theory about using a dsl router as a switch so maybe you could test it for me ;) try plugging the router into you main pc then connect all other to router however you do it . Safely set system restore points on all machines and run network connection wizard on main pc setting it up to have all other pcs connecting to the net throught its connection then run connection wizard on other machines and say you connect through another computer on the network. this in my theory (untested as I say) will set up a ad hoc network maybe ;)

Wots the diff. between these two

+

Is this the main diff:

Connect your wired and wireless desktop computers and notebooks
So with the big one.. 2nd one i can connect my desktop to it using a Rj45, whereas withthe small 1, its only wirless, and nothing can be plugged in.. like atm my desktop is acting as a server, its wired to the router..

I cant see the images :(

With a router no pc should act as a server the router plays the roll as a dhcp server . this should allow all pcs to connect to the internet independantly and if you allow can swap and share files between each of them (excuse my typing ive had a drinkie tonight lol )

The N1 looks nice and will do nicely it has 4 ethernet lan ports and a wan it has some nice feature
manual here

The bottom one is an adsl router and no good to you

Edit please note to get the most from this router your wireless nics will need to be n1 also but standard g rated will do

thnx man

The one your talkin about is this: N1 Wireless Router
However its brother modem is this: N1 Wireless Modem RoutWts the diff with the "modem" part

Edit : Sorry man.. im 1/4 asleep here lol... dint read the part wer u sed 2nd one is a adsl router... so the built in modem is only needed in adsl routers then?
