Re: Rupa Huq suspended
Is anyone actually surprised? The left is not nice and cuddly and it doesn’t believe in freedom to live as you choose. It peddles a new orthodoxy which it is prepared to use law to force on people and it reveals the ugly truth every time someone from a minority group dares step out of the approved state of victimhood assigned to them.
Witness for example the shrill denouncements of Germaine Greer and others who gave their lives for feminism, at the hands of radical trans activists for whom womens’ rights are anathema. Or, in this case, the denouncement of a black man for the heinous crime of being successful and having his own ideas about how success might best be offered to everyone else. ---------- Post added at 17:42 ---------- Previous post was at 17:24 ---------- Mod edit (Chris): DO NOT derail this topic with irrelevant comments. Re: Rupa Huq suspended
The right wing press will love the traction from this. Losing the economic argument leaves culture wars as the last straw to clutch at between now and a general election and Labour have left an open goal.

Re: Rupa Huq suspended
Good to see people in this forum calling out racist behaviour - well done, papa.

Re: Rupa Huq suspended
The key thing is that she came out and said this sort of things, while there are masses of others in the Labour party who think them, or discuss them amongst themselves.

Re: Rupa Huq suspended
Ok .... but how is calling a black man "black", racist and vile

Fundamentally it’s an open goal for the opponents of Labour for them to have these pseudo-intellectual debates publicly because when you filter the content down to a soundbyte, a tweet, or a tabloid newspaper column it’s very easy to portray it as saying something it doesn’t. Of those who see through that, the vast majority will be wondering why Labour thought it was wasting their time over during the biggest economic crisis in decades. Being the moral arbiter or who does (and who doesn’t) count as having lived experience across racial or sex based lines is just toxic. |
Re: Rupa Huq suspended
Sound rather like another case of people trying hard to be offended.
Bady chosen words ? Definitely, but "racist and vile" Come on, a bit OTT |

Whatever way you look at it, she referred to his race and in a derogatory way.
