O2 to close 3G network by 2025

Virgin Media O2 are closing their 3G network by 2025, so like other networks customers are going to need at least a 4G compatible phone to then use apps successfully.

As a reminder all 2G networks will go in the UK by 2033.

EDIT: Realised I've put this in the wrong place - was supposed to be in the Mobile section.

3G was painfully slow so I'd hope no one is still using such devices!

3G on O2 is faster than 4G where I am because of congestion.

Hopefully you’ll have a decent local 5G signal by the time the 3G goes. There aren’t likely to be any capacity upgrades to 4G in the pipeline.

Maybe because not everyone actually cares about "data", 3G is perfectly fine for calls & texts.
