Norton, McAfee, Malwarebytes

Norton 360 stopped providing updates when it launched 8.8 for Mac last week - the security log stopped showing anti-virus or vulnerability updates and did not do the post-update scan - so i have been forced to remove it and am currently trialling McAfee Total Protection. Consequently, I need to decide what security programme(s) I need.

Previously I ran Norton 360 with a daily scan with Malwarebytes. However McAfee and Malwarebytes clash, presumably because McAfee seems to be more focussed on malware rather than viruses.

In about three weeks I will see is Norton 360 is now working and if so I would go back to Norton with Malwarebytes free. If not then it's either McAfee or Malwarebytes paid-for because I like to have a real time scanner operating. However the Malwarebytes scans are a lot less comprehensive than the McAfee or Norton scans and I am told that Malwarebytes looks for fewer issues that the other two programmes. If Malwarebytes also offered anti-virus and firewall then I'd go with Malwarebytes but it doesn't.

What do people think I should do - advice/thoughts would be most welcome.

Wouldn't touch McAfee with a barge pole.

Try Bitdefender Total Security 2022 3 month trial, after trial ends sign-up again for another 3 months, I've used this method for years with the same email address just moving the . as it's seen as a new email, e.g snoopz.12345@email then after 3 months snoopz1.2345@email.

OR

Just use Windows Defender.

I ran Mcafee for awhile and had no problems (Other than a tad of a slow down (Bogginess))

In recent times I have heard that people now just use Windows Defender but as I use a Mac it's no good to me. However thank you for mentioning Bitdefender but I presume this is just for Window users?

Thank you for your kind sentiments Dude111. What security programme do you now use?

Ya I just run my firewall (Blackice) and have for years......

Mcafee was bogging stuff down so I just got rid of it........

Blackice also slows stuff very slightly down as its a filter of course but I dont wanna run w/o it...
