Films to see in 2020 / 2021
Due to coronavirus many of this year's films have been delayed and put back multiple times and as such the list features many films with a 2021 release date. This is by no means a comprehensive list of next year's releases and only features films which should have been released this year and have been put back to next year or beyond due to coronavirus. This list is a collaborative effort so if you think I have missed something or there is a film you think may be of interest to the wider community mention it below and I will add it to the list. Dates are subject to change and I will do my best to update them as I notice them. There was one film this year that was brought forward three months and at least three that were originally planned for this year and have been bumped to next year. I had Indiana Jones 5 on my list for next year and it has already been pushed back to 2021. Once we get into the new year I'll unstick the current 2019 thread and make this sticky so it is more accessible. New trailers will be added every week as they are released so keep coming back and checking for updates :) January 1st - The Gentlemen Trailer January 10th - Underwater Trailer January 17th - Bad Boys for Life Trailer 1 Trailer 2 January 24th - The Turning Trailer January 31st - The Grudge Trailer January 31st - The Rhythm Section Trailer January 31st (TBC)- Gretel & Hansel Trailer February 7th - Birds of Prey Trailer 1 Trailer 2 February 7th - Dolittle Trailer February 14th - The Photograph Trailer February 14th - Fantasy Island Trailer 1 Trailer 2 February 14th - Sonic the Hedgehog Trailer February 21st - Bloodshot Trailer February 21st - Like a Boss Trailer February 21st - Call of the Wild Trailer February 28th - The Invisible Man TV Spot Trailer March 6th - Onward Trailer Trailer 2 Trailer 3 ---- cinemas closed - coronavirus ---- Stream Now - Trolls World Tour Trailer 1 Trailer 2 Stream Now - Scoob Trailer June 12th (Disney+) - Artemis Fowl Teaser Trailer 1 June 30th (Stream) - Force of Nature Trailer Stream July 10th - Greyhound Trailer Stream July 24th - Radioactive Trailer ---- cinemas reopening - coronavirus ---- July 31st (approx.) - Unhinged Trailer 1 Trailer 2 August 12th - Peninsula (aka Train to Busan 2) Trailer 1 Trailer 2 August 21st - Sputnik Trailer August 14th - The One and Only Ivan Stream August 14th - Project Power Trailer August 26th - Tenet Trailer 1 Trailer 2 Trailer 3 September 1st - Bill & Ted Face the Music Teaser Trailer Stream September 4th - Mulan Teaser Trailer 1 Trailer 2 Featurette September 4th - The New Mutants (X-men) Trailer 1 Trailer 2 Teaser October 22nd - The Witches October 23rd - The Secret Garden Trailer ---- cinemas closed - coronavirus ---- November 5th - SpongeBob Movie - Sponge on the Run Trailer November 30th - The Rising Hawk Trailer December 4th - Monster Hunter Trailer 1 December 11th - Peter Rabbit 2 Trailer December 16th - Wonder Woman 1984 (aka Wonder Woman 2) Trailer 1 Trailer 2 December 18th - Greenland Trailer 1 December 18th - Dune Trailer Stream December 25th - Soul Trailer 1 Trailer 2 January 28th 2021 - The French Dispatch Trailer February 12th2021 - The King's Man (aka Kingsmen 3) Trailer 1 Trailer 2 Stream March 5th - Coming 2 America March 5th 2021 - Ghostbusters: Afterlife Trailer March 19th 2021 - Morbius Trailer 1 April 2nd 2021 - No Time to Die (James Bond) Trailer 1 TV Spot Trailer 2 April 23rd2021 - A Quiet Place Part II Trailer May 7th 2021 - Black Widow Teaser 1 Teaser 2 TV Spot Final Trailer May 21st 2021 - Godzilla vs Kong May 28th 2021 - Fast & Furious 9 Teaser Trailer TV Spot May 28th 2021 - Cruella eta June 2021 - The Conjuring 3 July 2nd 2021 - Minions: The Rise of Gru Teaser Trailer July 8th 2021 - Top Gun: Maverick Trailer 1 Trailer 2 TV Spot July 9th 2021 - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings July 16th 2021 - Uncharted July 30th 2021 - Jungle Cruise Trailer 1 Trailer 2 October 15th 2021- Halloween Kills November 5th 2021 - Eternals December 10th 2021 - West Side Story March 25th 2022 - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness TBC - Free Guy Trailer Trailer 2 TBC - Death on the Nile Trailer TBC 2020 - Connected Trailer TBC 2021 - Red Notice TBC - Now You See Me 3 TBC - Super Intelligence TBC - Six Billion Dollar Man |

Got a bad feeling about New Mutants. They finished filming over a year ago and the film keeps getting delayed, it's not a good sign....

Re: Films to see in 2020
Looks like its a horror movie, so Im losing interest.
|
Re: Films to see in 2020
me too, horrors don't appeal to me at all, they are all about less story and more thrill. The only ones I have watched and enjoyed are the Scream films and I Know What You Did Last Summer. I gave Bright Burn the benefit of doubt last year and it was just your typical horror movie dressed up as scifi/superman. I won't be making the same mistake again.

Mulan has been pushed back to an as of yet unknown date due to coronavirus. I expect more films will follow. I hope Black Widow still comes out in May.

Re: Films to see in 2020
I wouldn't count on it. It looks like most TV and film is being delayed now. I can't see Disney wanting to risk it being a flop.
|
Re: Films to see in 2020
Why would TV be delayed ?

Guess we'll be getting reduced or late seasons, and more repeats. |

Disney has delayed the release of Marvel film Black Widow, as well as The Woman In The Window and the US release of The Personal History Of David Copperfield.

I was sorta hoping, although not really expecting, that Disney would go full out to promote Disney+ by putting it on there for anyone who commits to a year. |
Re: Films to see in 2020
I thought the same thing, it would be a very clever move for rhem and would attract extra customers like myself who wouldnt have signed up otherwise but are bursting to see the next film in the mcu.
|
Re: Films to see in 2020
Pretty much all cinema chains have shut down now, so all film releases are delayed.
|
Re: Films to see in 2020
I am going to keep the thread open so people can discuss this year's movies and post new information as and when it becomes available but there aren't going to be any major updates or (probably) new trailers for the next few months. Release dates are constantly being pushed and there are many films which have been pushed twice already, firstly to the end of this year and now into the beginning of next year. As things get back to normal and dates look more concrete I'll update the list and probably doing a list rolling into next year so everyone can see where this year's expected releases have landed and know when to expect them. |
Re: Films to see in 2020
This will put a smile on your face. You keep up with the HISHEs you'll love this; they have still managed to come up with something very clever and humourous even though all the movie releases have been put on hold.
|
Re: Films to see in 2020
Just for reference for anyone who is getting overly excited about getting back to the cinema. Sky have put a list together of this year's key release and the revised dates (which may still yet change!)

Re: Films to see in 2020
Coronavirus is having a long term impact on movie production, even the releases schedules for 2021 and 2022 are being impacted and films pushed back.

Re: Films to see in 2020
Hardly suprising.
If 2020 stuff is pushed back to 2021, then stuff due in 2021 is going to get pushed back, and so on ... |
Re: Films to see in 2020
Yes, it's so worrying. I'm really looking forward to seeing the new James Bond movie but I wonder if that will even come out this year. It has been postponed from April to November 2020 but if we get hit by another wave of this thing, then I can see them moving that date again. Sad times for movie lovers.

Re: Films to see in 2020
That was one of the first films to be delayed back in February I think. Have a look at the first post in this thread, it has got the most up to date release dates so far as we know.
|
Re: Films to see in 2020
Thanks Maximus. I think that the return of the big box office blockbusters will give us something nice to look forward to when covid 19 is under control. however, it will be interesting to see whether movie studios choose to release their films straight to on demand services as Universal have been doing lately

Black Widow set to reach UK cinemas a week earlier than in the US

Re: Films to see in 2020
Early release aside, I think Black Widow in general is going to benefit from the lockdown massively. It was going to be popular anyway but perhaps not as much as some of the other MCU films but I think it is going to get a bit of a bump from the lockdown. As the cinemas have been closed for so long I think people are going to be gagging to go to the cinema so much that a) people who wouldn't normally go to the cinema will go just for something different to do and get them out of the house b) people who do go to the cinema who weren't too bothered about this (as some forum users have said themselves) will go and see it and c) people who were going to see it anyway will go and see it more than once.
Long story short I think it is going to beat projections by 10%-15% and I am going to play little game and predict a $1.5bn boxoffice revenue. |
