What do those more experienced in this think about this guide? Is it accurate?

Re: Torrenting guide.
I'm thinking of downloading torrents, what should I do?
1) Don't post about it on the forums of a large UK internet provider. 2) GOTO 1 :D Having said that, I've downloaded numerous torrent over the years, the vast majority of which are the various Unix distro's that are ever evolving. I have 2 old laptops that I often experiment with. I don't use a proxy or VPN because It's a legal download. Bittorent, Utorrent, seem to be popular. |

Re: Torrenting guide.
I use bittorrent (the original) to get things that I can't justify subscribing for.
Otherwise it's to get a better copy (1080p) of something I already have bought on tape or DVD. Or some old classic like "Tubruk" or "Ice cold in Alex" which IIRC are out of copyright anyway. Generally this is through membership of a private tracker service where copyright owner stooges are not lurking to harvest IPs. To use a public tracker like TPB you need a proxy or VPN to anonymise yourself and bypass ISP blocks. |
