Films to see in 2022

Welcome to the film list of 2022. Fingers crossed that this year is going to run more smoothly than the last two years. We got back to a sense of normalcy with regards to dependable release dates and some quality blockbusters last year however there was still a degree of hesitancy with regards to cinema going and in imho many films didn't perform as well as they deserved to. Fingers crossed for a better year this year.

As always this is a collaborative effort so if I have missed something off the list let me know. More and more big budget productions are being released on streaming services such as Amazon and Netflix so if you see something which you think will be of interest post a link or the trailer in this thread and I'll add it to the list.

Trailers will be added as soon as they become available so keep checking back for updates.

All films are cinema releases unless otherwise specified. Any dates in bold are films which were originally schedules for this year and have been delayed for one reason or another until 2023.

Re: Films to see in 2022

I have just scanned through the list and updated quite a few release dates. Many films due to be released over the next three months have either jumped forward a few weeks or back so if you were planning on going to the cinema have a quick look to see when your film is being released.

The big change for me is Morbius. I was really looking forward to it and it was supposed to be released this week and it has been delayed till April now.

I am going to love it for the nostalgia factor if nothing else. It is going to be great having the original cast back together.

It’s very rare when a film is being made for it to be filmed in the sequence we see it - he’ll turn up, do his bit, then do the next bit, etc., etc.

I’ve read about people in films don’t know the whole story until they actually see the finished product.

Well unless its deliberately witheld from them, they will have the full script to read.

Hugh 14-02-2022 20:17

Re: Films to see in 2022

Usually, they might see the whole script for the initial read-through, but when they shoot the film, they have their scenes of the script.

Me too. There have already been several films like this released this year which have been below average. They seem to be dishing them out like confetti these days. It might just be the trailer (which has also caught me out) but this one looks worth a watch and reminds me of Safe House. If it is as good as that i'll be happy. No release date yet. It is planned for this year. I'll update the main list as soon as it is available.

Good find, I'll defo be watching that and if it is any good hopefully it will be nominated for some Oscars. I love these kind of films which give you an insight into the history and life of famous and influential people you know very little about. I remember hearing about him for the first time in 1999/2000 ish:

Stephen 03-05-2022 22:06

It'll be an interesting watch but highly doubt it'll get nominated for any Oscars.

Re: Films to see in 2022

you never know, Daniel Radcliff might get an acting nomination for his "transformation" and he might just get it. I have noticed over the last couple of years how the academy has changed its tastes with a view to becoming more contemporary and relevant as viewing figures have declined. I couldn't believe it when the Lego was nominated for best song.
