Red flagging the race saved Lewis, he was a lap behind until then. Drove well afterwrds tough. Max crushed it from the start.

I've seen this mentioned plenty of times on social media and it seems so many F1 fans just don't seem to understand racing. You can't just cruise in 2nd place from a standing start, that could be potentially dangerous. Hamilton got a great start from 2nd with clear track infront of him. By the time Perez had moved over to cover Hamilton, they were side by side. At that point, from what I understand is were Hamilton made a mistake by hitting the button by accident.

When I said ‘cruise’ I didn’t mean it in the literal sense of the word, it was obvious from the clouds of smoke rising from Hamiltons car that his brakes were under stress, he could have eased into second place with two full laps to attempt a pass (very unlikely) but second place would have been far better than he could have hoped for before Verstappen blew up.

The smoke from the tyres/brakes is pretty normal and you see it often and as far as I'm aware, had nothing to do with the problem. The problem wasn't Hamilton going for first place, it was accidentally hitting a button. Again you don't cruise or ease into 2nd place from a standing start.

I think what people can't look past is that 2nd place is better than 15th. Of course that is true, but that isn't what caused the problem.

Bar the cock up Hamilton could have easily won the race, he had the major advantage of being 2nd as he could have used Perez to draft then overtake with DRS, plus Lewis has 7 Titles under his belt and knows all the tricks to overtake

You also have to hand to Stroll for keeping his crippled car of the racing line, as he would likely only have had one wheel to steer.

New qualifying for this weekends British GP.

Qualify today for a 100Km sprint race tomorrow. The result of the sprint determines poll for Sunday.

Top 3 in sprint also get championship points.
