I hereby withdraw my initial plea, and now think Novak Djokovic is brilliant (I have 3 of his albums) and should not only take part in the Australian Open, but should be signed by Chelsea and also nominated for an Oscar :PP:

That leaves no wriggle room for Djokovic. Just as important, it rules out any back-tracking by the Australian PM.

If the relevant tennis associations come up with the necessary exemption documentation, then if that satisfies the Court in terms of the immigration rules, he may yet compete. That seems to be the only available wriggle room.
