Well his argument might have a bit more weight if these highly paid prima donnas stopped bullying and haranguing referees at every opportunity! |

I think if they're 'man' enough to dish it out they should be man enough to take it.

Re: Sol wants the abuse to stop
Would it be too much to ask for these sensitive souls to show the same level of courtesy to the referees during the game?

Re: Sol wants the abuse to stop
I don't remember a match where players shout and swear at the referee for the whole match continuously. Even when they do swear at the referee it's not directed at them personally and is in the heat of the moment, it's different to when fans swear at players. No one deserves to be shouted and sworn at for 90 minutes so why should footballers get treated like that? There is uproar if a player swears at the crowd (Ashley Cole last Sunday) but what people were shouting at him was 100x worse than sticking two fingers up.

Sorry but the players are supposed to be professionals and demand to be paid accordingly - as such they need to set the example and if they don't like it they can always get a proper job can't they. |

I never said the players deserved anything, I merely stated that they should set the example and clean up their own act first. By so doing they might just engender and then earn the respect they clearly seek! Not too much to ask of so called professionals is it?? |

Roy Keane wants the abuse to stop too. I am wondering whether the additives in those prawn sandwiches is the root of the problem

Moving onto Defoe, no one would have said a word if he'd been sold after relegation but oh no, he had to go banging on doors handing in transfer requests on the day we went down, when the clubs very existence was under threat, his selfishness was unforgivable |

That said I think we should agree to differ here as we are about to start repeating ourselves ;) |
