IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Hey,
Guess what the wife wants an IPhone and were on Virgin Mobile. After calling up last week I was told its unlikely due to something to do with TMobile and Apple, blah blah not sure, So my question is:- If I buy an Iphone and have it unlocked are there any quirks or things not to do, does it work properly as it should etc, Found this site which seems to offer everything you need, Just wondered if anyone has had some success with this. Cheers, |
Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Before I switched to my HTC Desire I had an iPhone on virgin and it worked perfectly.

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Great,
And is anything affected with your contract, she has the unlt data, would that still work as normal? |
Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Yup that's fine. Just remember 'unlimited' is 1gb. Mind you I never used any where near that much in a month but it is worth remembering.

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
I'm using an iPhone, can't get mms but everything else works like a charm
my unlimited Internet is 2gb which is pretty decent |
Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Tell her to look at the HTC Desire instead, it's better than the iphone.

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
If you are on a contract with Tmobile and tell em you are leaving because you want an Iphone you may well get offered one.

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Well if you do manage to get a HTC Desire, it's not bad either. That's what I've got on my VM contract.

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
t-mobile is a crap network, if it wasnt for the staff deal i'd be back with o2

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
As far as coverage is concerned none of the VM (tmobile network) phones I have suffer from lack of signal

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Anybody have any experience with the new iPhone4 yet, I'm reading that they take a Micro-Sim and seen all sorts of YouTube content about trimming your existing Sim card down - anyone successfully used an iPhone4 on Virgin?
Thanks in advance. |
Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
I've cut down a Virgin Mobile PAYG SIM for the iPhone 4, just to test the network and stuff. It's pretty good, unlike T-Mobile (whose network it uses) download speeds aren't capped. Am quite tempted by the £15/mo option with 1GB Internet but am waiting to see if T-Mobile does any better when they finally (re-)release their plans.

I have spoken to VirginMobile Customer Service and visited two of their shops (which were to be honest more aimed at Cable customers) but none of them were very helpful. However they did give me the MMS settings but I dont know where in the Iphone to put them! Did you have to alter any settings on the Iphone when you put your Virgin SIM in or did it work straight away? Many thanks in advance. |

Re: IPhone on Virgin Mobile
Just thought I'd update, after the advise I got here I took the plunge bought the iphone and got a Noosy trimmer and I'm up and running. All went OK if a little apprehensive on cutting the SIM card, but tried it on a test one and all went OK. Thanks for the help.
