Quad Play to launch his week
thought i would put it here since its more virgin mobile topic which i think is technology! :)
A guy who my mum worked with ages ago came into the shop today and he now works for telewest. He told her that if you are a telewest customer you can get an exclusive virgin mobile deal 300 minutes any network 300 texts £10 a month He said it starts on 26th Sept so we will see! He also wrote down some information on this piece of paper and mentioned a code number which is "326" anyone know anything about this? He said we should get some info bout it in post  |

Quad Play to launch his week
Well it is nearing the end of september so i would guess that this week we shall see the launch of 4play from virgin ?
Combines ntl Telewest’s 3 for £30 package (over 30 digital channels and TV-on-demand, 2Mb broadband and phone line) with a Virgin Mobile pay monthly contract for just £40 a month http://www.cableforum.co.uk/article/...quad-play-deal |
Re: QUAD PLAY TO LAUNCH THIS WEEK !
I'm very tempted to say "who cares", but I won't.
But I will say something I said when ntl announced the mereger with Virgin Mobile, and that is that ntl used to have a special deal with Orange which never really took off, so I am wondering why anyone would think differently this time. I'm not saying they won't, I am saying why would they? |
Re: QUAD PLAY TO LAUNCH THIS WEEK !
As and when it happens, I shall probably port my Orange number over to NTL:Telewest and start the mobile contract with them - I think Orange has lost the initiative now, and charges extra for things which were previously included. I'm assuming that an additional £10 per month would give you some reasonable number of inclusive minutes on a cellphone?
|
Re: QUAD PLAY TO LAUNCH THIS WEEK !
yes another site seems to be reporting that the quad play deal will include 300 minutes to any network and 300 texts for £10 or 4 for £40 to launch on the 26th september http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...d.php?t=464610

Re: QUAD PLAY TO LAUNCH THIS WEEK !
Do you get this if your already an NTL customer? :) Also, Do you get a new phone with the contract? ;)
|
Re: QUAD PLAY TO LAUNCH THIS WEEK !
That's correct. £10 per month for 300 minutes and 300 texts (cross-network). It's SIM-only, and only available to customers who already take (or upgrade to) triple-play services from ntl/Telewest. :)
|
Re: QUAD PLAY TO LAUNCH THIS WEEK !
So, It's just the SIM. Ahh.. I was looking into getting a new phone. LOL.

Say I took out a Virgin Mobile Contract for £25 - Same tarrif as the NTL:Virgin deal. Could I ring up the next day after I got the contract saying 'I bought this contract and could I get the NTL deal with it?' Would that work? :)

Re: Quad Play to launch his week
has anyone else noticed a mistake on that page regarding the landline?
does anyone know if you could get a mobile at a discounted rate because your taking the sim? |
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
Look at this :
Hi Kyle, Thanks for your email to Virgin Mobile about getting set up with the £10 a month SIM card offer. To get set up you'll need to make sure you're set up with ntl.Telewest for your TV, phone and broadband. Once you're sure this is all set up you'll need to contact our Sales team on 0845 6000 600 to get your £10 a month Virgin Mobile SIM card. The offer is for a SIM card only, however you can combine this with a free Lobster 575 in either black or pink if you're using the ntl.Telewest triple play offer of 3 for £30 offer. If not you can still buy the Lobster 575 at a reduced rate of £29.99. We hope this helps. If there's anything else we can help you with, just reply to this email. How did we do? If you'd like to give us some feedback, just click on the link below and fill in our online questionnaire. You might like to have your original email handy to read while you're doing it. We promise to use your answers to make our service the best it can be. Click here to complete the survey. Kind regards, Victoria Cooper Virgin Mobile Get a free Lobster 575! :) |
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
but can we get 2 deals per household or is it just the one ?
|
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
Ok - here's the rub.
£10 is SIM only. The only phone on offer is a Lobster which is dual band - and not much use to me when travelling to the US/Canada as I do. Any other phone would cost the same as the PAYG charge - which means the potential savings are more than wiped out. |

Re: Quad Play to launch his week
Quick question - well a couple.
Whats the Virgin network like - is it reliable? (I'm currently with Orange contract). I would need to have my Sony Ericsson phone unlocked, as they're locked to the Orange network. Anyone have any experience of this - would Orange unlock it for me? |
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
virgin dont have their own network i beleive they use t-mobile but am not 100% on that, there are websites that will give you instructions how to unlock it or have a look around for a mobile shop that isnt part of a chain they usually do it, cos me £2 to have mine done

Orange will happily provide you with an official unlock code for £20 for your SE phone. You may be able to find unofficial ones for around £10 - unfortunately you cannot unlock SEs for free like Nokias! |
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
Thanks for the advice guys. I've been with Orange for quite a few years, and happy with their service so far - but currently on Talk20 (20mins per month) for about £13 or so. I'm not a great mobile phone user - but £10 compared to £13 is a saving, plus the bonus of the additional minutes.
I shall be calling Orange for the unlock code and Port Authorisation Code later - I'm not sure when my contract term is up, Orange have deals that sign you in for additional 12 month batches. I did notice interestingly enough that Virgin calls from US and Canada are 10p cheaper, but to receive calls costs 10p more.. |

You don't have to have the four services to get the £10 sim, you can add it to a Broadband package if you like, some examples of packages inc the £10 sim are here:

given that this Virgin mobile is part of NTL:tw now, that NT:tw are a phone communications company, and you, as a customer for this deal might want to ring NTL:tw on their freephone 0800 no's, why is it that the Virgin mobile T&C for this offer charges you to the second for ringing any freephone 0800 No's ?,shouldnt NTL:tw customers at least get a break and not be charged for these freephone 0800 No's. http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/gener...e.footer.sm068 " 2(h) The voice calls available within your monthly allowance described in condition 2(c) are for UK originating: calls to UK fixed lines, calls and text messages to Virgin Mobile or other UK mobile telephone numbers, calls to Group Call, 0800 numbers and Pagers, Call Return and Standard WAP. And I decided to go over to Virgin now - transfer the number later in the year, and probably forgo the final month of the Orange contract. On another note - has anyone had any experience of getting Orange to unlock their phones? I requested an unlock code from them over a week ago - and nothing has appeared yet in my inbox as promised. |

Re: Quad Play to launch his week
Has anyone actually had the pink Lobster phone?
|
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
Ok - took the plunge and decided to go with the £10 per month (300 mins plus 300 sms).
Firstly Lynx Delivery were supposed to deliver the phone on Monday - for some inexplicable reason, it was routed to Manchester instead of Northampton, meaning someone had to wait in another day. Then added the phone number to the online account, and thought it strange that it showed £5 credit, and no direct debit details. It seems that the account has been set up as PAYG and not the £10 contract rate. I have to wait for accounts to call me in the morning. If anyone else takes up the offer - check the account set up online immediately, otherwise you might not have the account you quite thought you had. |
Re: Quad Play to launch his week
I also noticed the £5 thing in my online account. I found this odd at the time since the new Virgin SIM had only been in my phone for a matter of minutes and then only to set up Virgin Voicemail [at the time I was waiting for my 02 number to be ported over and I thought it'd make life simpler if I kept the two things seperate.] I contacted Virgin for an explanation of how I had managed to run up £5 in such a short time. A clue, I guess, should have been the absence of any calls in the online account records.
Anyway, I shall attempt to pass on here the explanation I was given... Apparently the new £10 Virgin SIM comes with £5 of calling credit on it so what I/you are seeing is that £5. My understanding is that when the first £10 becomes due it will actually only cost me £5 and then in the coming months it will revert to being £10 per month. Does that make sense? I agree the situation isnt exactly made clear by the £5 being shown in that way in the online bill. Give them a ring and maybe they will make a better job of explaining it than me. :) |

Can't find out at the moment since although I manage all the accounts in our household, so have all security passwords etc they won't speak to me since its in my wifes name, would only speak to her, actually I think any woman would have done - account in female name, = must hear female voice on phone - I'd already passed all their security checks but still refused to talk to me |
