Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
I have a Realme mobile (origionally produced by Oppo). In my Sim Info & settings I can choose my "Preferred network type" I have mine set to Auto but could choose to restrict use to 4G. Maybe this could be an option on your phone?

Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
Seeing you're at home does your phone or O2 not support WiFi calling over your home network?

Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
sometimes my phone shows 5G when it is really 4G
When you say the signal is poor is it actually stopping you doing anything? have you run a speedtest? |

What if the Wi-Fi Calling feature won't turn on Perform the following methods if you can't enable the Wi-Fi Calling feature of your OPPO A74 5G. Update the phone software Go to [Settings] > [Software updates] / [System updates] or [Settings] > [About phone] / [About device] and update your phone to the latest software version. Go to your OPPO A74 5G's [Settings]. Tap on the [Mobile Network] / [Dual SIM & Cellular] / [Dual SIM & Mobile Network] / [SIM Card & Mobile Data]. Select the SIM card you want to modify. Tap on [Wi-Fi Calling]. |

I have a duel sim phone and my main sim is 1penny mobile (EE) which supports wifi calling but my second sim is from giffgaff (O2) and Wi-Fi calling and voLTE (AKA 4G voice calls) are not supported. |

Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
Confused why is there talk of WiFi calling? I do not see any mention of issue with voice calls unless I am missing something

But now I'm confused why is the OP relying on 5G in the home on his mobile when he should be connected to his home WiFi network? |
Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
Why would poor 5G have any effect on voice calls?

Just read back op never mentioned he had bad voice calls.... I need sleep. Maybe op has never connected his mobile to his home network for some strange reason? |

As Jaymoss pointed out voice calls have nothing to do with 4g,5g. It sounds like you need to use a network that either gives you good signal in your house or supports WiFi calling, for me Smarty on Three network does that for me. https://smarty.co.uk/#plans |

I've had to enable WiFi calling otherwise I get no calls. My O2 shop was as much use as a piece of string is to someone with diarrhoea. |

Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
Yeah my mobile has an option that says VoLTE calls Sim1 which is enabled. (use LTE data networks for calls whenever possible) and as Jaymoss says select 4G/LTE rather than 5G/LTE/3G/2G which is the options on my phone.

Have a choice of 5g,4g,3g,2g,auto or4g,3g,2g auto or 3g,2g auto thats it, no problem with second choice . First one seems to be the problem, hence my saying it's 5g :erm: |

Re: 4g 5g mobile phone
I'm with EE and 5g here in Swansea is a nightmare.
It drops out all over the place, one minute its working then its not and my handset is only 2 months old so I know its not that. |
If I ever did get one of these phones I would get one that does not have any 5G access..... 5G is dangerous and I try to avoid it as much as possible...
