I'm right hacked off. No disrespect, but I was looking forward to the Masterchef Final at 21:00 today on BBC1. It's been wall-to-wall Prince Philip regurgitation since his death was announced. Very annoying.

His condition is currently described as 'stable' if that's any help.

Very sad when anyone dies, but he lived to 99 and had a better quality of life than most.

It will be because both country & Queen have now started eight days of national mourning and the BBC exists by Royal Assent. During a period of national mourning the Monarch doesn't carry out any official business and Parliament doesn't send any bills for her to sign.

BBC4 programmes have been suspended completely as a mark of respect.

Masterchef Final - once a year.

Death of U.K. Monarch’s Consort - first time in 160-odd years a Monarch’s Consort has died whilst Monarch is still alive.

You’re missing Masterchef, the titular head of our country is missing her husband of 73 years.

Priorities?

(not a huge Royalist, but understand/sympathise with those who are)

RIP.He’s been part of British life for a large part of 70 plus years. His worth to the Monarchy and country is beyond measure.

All this fawning and effusions about Prince Philip is mere virtue signalling.

When the Queen dies, that’ll be worth the mourning. Prince Charles and Andrew? Not worth a half-penny. The rest of them, nobodies to merit disruption to the norms.

While I’m at it, the near-State funeral for Maggie was entirely justified.

What’s the 160 years got to do with anything? A man of 99 has died. A worthy man indeed by all accounts. But 8 days of national mourning? That’s ridiculous.

My priority was Masterchef; instead it’s wall-to-wall Prince Philip and extremely tedious.

My condolences obviously go to the Queen, whom Prince Philip wasn’t.

If you think this is bad at least we're not going all Queen Victoria on it.

Meant to say Royal Charter.
