I've never relied on the Met Office for the weather. they said it was going to be light snow here. right up until they changed it to heavy snow when me and them could see the heavy snow.

even Metcheck are saying it's sunny/fair. no mention of snow at all.

I think maybe we could do with a bit more of this snow. We've had 3-4 inches overnight and have just returned from a 6 mile walk taking our youngest to school. We were struck by the extreme consideration shown by motorists as we went on our way. Normally it'd routine for us to be stuck in a pedestrian refuge or junction whilst a stream of cars whizzed by seemingly oblvious to our presence but today all the drivers we came across were far more considerate and let us cross roads with no problem whatsoever. Perhaps the realisation that nobody in a vehicle is going anywhere fast accounts for this positive change of attitude but, whatever it is, I hope some of these people carry on the good work and show just a bit more consideration to pedestrians when the weather improves.

The Met Office is institutionally racist, and therefore can't be trusted.

Well, yesterday the BBC weather said light snow all day today for Woking. Today, when it is snowing outside and has been all night, it says either grey clouds or rain!?!?

Roads have been awful round here today, Mansfield was gridlocked this morning due to black ice.

They've suspended the bus service use to get from where I live into Mansfield.

At home at the moment, another day of unplanned annual leave.

About 4 or 5 inches of snow in Hungerford area last night and thus I cannot get the car up the hill and out of our cul-de-sac. I can do some work stuff from home fortunataly.

And it's just stopped snowing - come on - where's this thaw everybody's been talking about?!!

Re: [Merged] Snow!

The thaw is right here. :wavey: :D

The roads are black, the fields are green ... and it's raining.

Re: [Merged] Snow!

My mother always used to say "it has to snow again to take it away"

Oddly there seems to be some logic in this "old wives tale". We have a cold spell initiated with snow fall. We then wait for a warmer air front to come through so a thaw can set in. As this warm front pushes it's way in their is often a further snow fall which doesn't last. Looking at the forecast for much of the South of England, temperatures are now set to rise as todays snow ebbs away.

Back to how it was after the original snowstorm here.

Some muppets have taken one of the few trains from Brighton into London. Wonder if there are going to be any to take them back home this evening?

Just cold and wet here... hoping it stays that way, can't do the whole snow/ice thing.

Really weird ice all over my car this morning, almost crystal clear, and broke up like glass when I started to remove it.

Pavements are like an ice rink - played dodge the pedestrian driving into work this morning as they were all over the roads.
